This is a huge problem because Russia supplies 40% of Europe’s gas. Europe is trying to save gas, but economists think that the continent might run out of supply by this winter. The cause of this is because of a big chain. Let’s dive in. On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine under United Nations-defined incorrect pretenses. This caused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to send weapons to Ukraine to defend themselves against Russia. Now Russia is preventing gas from reaching Europe, which is backlash, or payback for arming Ukraine. You might be thinking, why can’t NATO just send their armies to help Ukraine and end the war? One reason why is because that would be two major powers sending their armies to fight against each other, which is basically NATO declaring war on Russia, sparking a World War III. Another big reason why NATO wouldn’t do that is that China has recently announced that they are supporting Vladimir Putin’s intentions, which is a big worry for all of NATO. The organization is barely strong enough to take on Russia alone, so a Russia-China alliance could be a huge problem for not just NATO, but all of Europe and Asia. This would result in not even a World War III, but a catastrophic event that could wipe out a large chunk of the world’s population (because of nuclear weapons). By Mihir Gupta

You can read it below or you can access it on our website here: https://theweeklynews0.wixsite.com/yourweeklynews/grubhub-makes-deal-with-amazon Grubhub recently made a deal with Amazon to have Amazon Prime customers receive Grubhub+ free for one year, and Amazon gets a 2% stake in Grubhub's parent company, Just Eat Takeaways with the option of increasing that stake to 15% in the future. ​ The offer is that Amazon Prime members get Grubhub+ for free for one year. Grubhub+ includes free delivery on any order that is over $12, and also offers member-only offers, and Prime members will be saving $120 a month. After the yearly offer expires, Prime customers will automatically be charged the regular $9.99 a month. ​ There are over 153 million Amazon Prime customers around the world, so this will massively increase Grubhub's customer count and the customers in many restaurants. After the pandemic hit, apps like Grubhub and Doordash exploded in popularity since everyone was stuck at home. Then, after everyone returned to in-person eating, their customer count declined hugely and they were left in trouble because everyone wanted to have the joy of eating in-person again. It is a really bad situation, as over 750 people have been killed from the severe heat, only in Portugal and Spain! Here’s what’s been going on, but we’ll break it down, country by country. United Kingdom: Temperatures in Britain were at about 88 or 90 degrees Fahrenheit (31 or 32 degrees Celsius), but weather heated up, with temperatures at over 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) in London, with some areas reaching 105 Fahrenheit (40 Celsius), which was the hottest ever recorded temperature in the country. This was really bad for a country where a lot of houses don’t have AC and are built to prevent heat from escaping and trap it inside because of the cold later in the year. Remember, temperatures like this are very unusual, seeing that London is at the same latitude as Calgary, Canada. The British government also issued a red level warning for the first time ever as a result of the heat in the London area, an orange level in the rest of southern UK, and a yellow level in the northern part of the country and Northern Ireland. They also shut down all railroads because they didn’t want the rails to bend in the extreme heat and the trains to crash. 6 people also drowned while trying to cool off in rivers, lakes, and reservoirs and many fires raged across London on Tuesday. Spain: Temperatures in Spain were not as hot, in the mid to high 80s and low 90s Fahrenheit (around 30-33 Celsius), but the dryness had been going on for a while. It did heat up quite a bit in Southern Spain with the Iberian Peninsula reporting temperatures of 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius) and Spain reported over 350 deaths from the heat, because temperatures don’t usually get this hot, and many more were reported dead during the worst day of the heatwave. Also, over 30 wildfires are raging across the country, burning many hundreds of acres of land. Portugal: There were less wildfires here, but more heat by regular standards. The temperatures were about the same as Spain, reaching 88 or 90 degrees Fahrenheit (31 or 33 degrees Celsius). Another 230 people were reported dead in Portugal because of the heat. Many wildfires are burning here, too. France: The heat here was just like Britain, with temperatures soaring into temperatures like 104 and 106 degrees Fahrenheit (40 and 41 degrees Celsius), but the wildfires were even worse. Dry and hot conditions in Southern France are creating extremely troublesome wildfires, and firefighters are working triple-time to extinguish them. The main problem is in the region of Gironde in Southern France. Two fires are the particular problem. Over 1,200 firefighters have been battling two specific fires in Gironde for days, and they say that the weather is not helping. The dry conditions and hot temperatures help the greenery dry up, creating easier fuel for the fire to burn. The fires have burned over 25,000 acres of land and have forced over 14,000 people out of their homes. Temperatures recently reached 106 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius) in the area. Italy: Temps in Italy have been rocketing the past few days, and unlike others, their heat wave is not expected to stop soon. Temperatures have been at about 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius)  and haven’t been below 86 degrees for weeks. They are predicted to be near 97 or 98 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) in Rome, the capital. Temperatures thankfully cooled down everywhere along this route (except Italy), and many people were relieved that this heat was over. The pictures were released on July 12 by NASA and truly show the vastness of our universe. You can scroll to the bottom to find the full collection of pictures. Want to find out more and understand the concept? Read on!​ First of all, who took the pictures? Or exactly, what took the pictures? The answer is the James Webb Space Telescope, Earth's most powerful telescope. But, is the billions of dollars put into it really worth it? Definitely. The telescope has been NASA's largest project for the past few years and is much stronger than its older companion, the Hubble Space Telescope. The massive telescope was launched a few months ago and its first pictures were recently taken. It has the power to detect even the faintest of infrared light because it is so far away. NASA then has to take those infrared pictures and convert them to full color. One more thing before we get to the pictures. One more concept to wrap your mind around. Light may travel at, well, the speed of light, but it still takes millions of years for it to travel this long of a distance. In fact, it takes so long that the light some of these pictures is actually 4.6 billion years old! That means that if this telescope sees a supernova, that means that that supernova actually happened when Earth was still being formed! That also means that whatever is happening out there right now, we won't be able to see it with this telescope for another 4.6 billion years! A complex concept to take in, so let's do a comparison. The sun is 93 million miles away from Earth. It takes 8 minutes for the light from the sun to reach Earth. If it takes 4.6 billion years for the light from deep space to reach us, then imagine how far away that is! It could be trillions, quadrillions, quintillions, of miles away. Maybe even numbers that we haven't even discovered yet. But enough of the background. Now let's get to the pictures. This is a picture of the almost-finished James Webb Space Telescope when still at NASA. It has a unique honeycomb design on the front that makes it very recognizable. This image shows what is named, Stephan's Quintet, which is a picture of five galaxies very close to each other, which provide an ample view of how beautiful space really is. Four of those five galaxies actually interact with each other and stretch each other out. Also, one fun fact, do you see all of the little stars in the background? Almost every single one of those is a galaxy. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is small compared to others, but still has 100 to 400 billion stars. Imagine how many stars are there in those galaxies. Imagine how many planets are circling all those stars. Imagine how many Earth-like planets there are just in our galaxy! How can we be alone in this universe if there are so, so many planets out there? This is the telescope's first image of the Southern Ring nebula, which is a dying star collapsing and gas and dust are coming out, creating a beautiful view. A younger star is also nearby, orbiting it. You have to say, in the universe, stars go out in style! This is a picture of the galaxy cluster called SMACS 0723. It shows thousands and thousands of galaxies, all observed by the James Webb Space Telescope. Its infrared supersensitivity allows it to detect even the faintest of galaxies. In fact, the light from some of the fainter galaxies is over 13.1 billion years old! That's three times as old as the Earth itself! This image shows the Carina Nebula, in our own galaxy, the Milky Way. Nebulas are where young stars are born out of the debris of a dead one. As you can see in the picture, nebulas are perfect for forming stars, and there are probably thousands of young stars being born at this very moment, right here in our galaxy.​ These pictures are truly spectacular, which is why we have created an easily accessible gallery for you below. The president of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa also resigned just hours later. Protesters swarmed the president's fortified residence on July 10 after economic problems caused massive shortages is many essential items, like food, fuel, and more. The protesters were seen splashing in the garden pool, lying on beds and taking videos of the moment, and even making tea. They also waved flags, banged on drums, and chanted slogans, so local police eventually ended up firing tear gas at them. ​ Later, more protesters appeared at the prime minister's private residence, but got a little more violent. Actually, a lot more violent. They arrived and committed arson by setting his house on fire. The Prime Minister was extremely sad, also because that was an ancestral home in which his ancestors had lived in for decades. Later, at his mansion, other protesters relaxed in his pool and beds after chasing him out and later committed arson and set his house on fire. In all, over 30 people were hurt in the chaos that occurred. ​ Both men will officially resign on Wednesday, July 13th and will be replaced with two others that most Sri Lankans hope will be better. This article contains gun violence and may be inappropriate for young children. There was more Prime Minister drama on July 8, 2022, only this time, it was in Japan. The Japanese former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated early Friday morning in Japan while giving a speech in the Japanese city of Nara. But how? Japan has some of the strictest gun laws in the world! First of all, who was Shinzo Abe? He was one of the best Prime Ministers Japan had ever had, from most Japanese people's standpoint, and was also their longest-serving PM, once in 2006 and then from 2012-2020. Many Japanese say he changed the face of their country, like Teddy Roosevelt or George Washington for the United States or someone like Mahatma Gandhi for India. The 67-year-old changed people's perspectives of things, and brought Japan to the high place in the economy where it is now. ​ But who was the shooter? Well, he was named as Tetsuya Yamagami, and the 41-year-old suspect admitted to shooting Abe because he had a grudge against a "specific organization" that Abe was connected to. He managed to get close enough to Abe to fire accurately without going through any security checks and was tackled immediately by officials. ​ Another thing, if Japan has very strict gun laws, then how did someone manage to sneak a gun in there? Well, here's a thing that we haven't seen much about. He shot the former PM with a handmade gun. Yamagami managed to make multiple handmade guns and shoot Abe twice in the neck, where he later died in the hospital of the injuries and heart problems connected to the shots. They later investigated his house and found a few more handmade guns and some other handmade explosives, so residents were told to evacuate the area as well. The suspect is now in custody and Japan is recovering from the loss of their former Prime Minister. By Armaan Dhawan

It is also the oldest tennis tournament in the world, as it has been held 135 times and is 145 years old, being founded in 1877. On a different note, there was a lot of controversy over the fact that Russian and Belarusian players were not allowed to compete in the tournament due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But who won this year? ​ First of all, who competed in the Wimbledon Finals? Well, one of them was the Serbian tennis master, Novak Djokovic (his name is pronounced No-vak' Jo'ko-vich). He has numerous tennis world records and many more Grand Slam wins. The other competitor was Australian Nick Kyrgios (pronounced Nik' Ker'ee-os), who has also won numerous tournaments. ​ So who won? Well, the three-hour competition ended up in disappointment for Kyrgios and relief for Djokovic. The first set put Kyrgios in a good place after winning 6-4, but Djokovic came back in Set 2 to win 6-3. Then Djokovic won again, 6-4, and then came Set 4. They ended up tied 6-6, but Djokovic won the tiebreaker, 7-3 to win the tournament. By Armaan Dhawan

Also, the villain is a god-killer named Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who holds the Necrosword, a sword that kills gods. It is all in Marvel Studios' latest movie. But will it stay that way for long? ​ Earlier in July, Netflix tested, for the first time ever, releasing a series in two parts, therefore dripping it. This was tested on Stranger Things, as Part One of the latest season was released earlier in the year, and Part Two was recently released earlier in July. It was a huge hit, which Netflix needed after the big blow earlier in the year when they announced that they had lost over 200,000 subscribers in just three months (Read about that in our archived article, Netflix Catastrophe). ​ Now, they are also breaking their record of having no ads, but only for people who want to pay less. Netflix will soon be introducing a new tier of subscription, where the subscriber can pay less for the subscription at the expense of ad-free watching. This means that they will have two tiers of subscription: The lower-priced one with ads, and the higher-priced one with no ads, but the same content in both of them. ​ But don't worry Netflix subscribers, if you have an existing subscription, you automatically stay with that subscription and any existing subscribers will keep their ad-free watching.
