Happy Valentine's Day! There's a lot of news today, so let's get to it. First of all, there was another mass shooting last night at Michigan State University, killing three and injuring five others. The 43-year-old suspect has now died due to a self-inflicted gunshot, and had no relation to the school. Over 19,000 scared students were forced to hide in their dorms and take shelter during the campus sweep, as hundreds of armed policemen searched the grounds for the attacker. On another note, Cyclone Gabrielle struck New Zealand hard today, killing three people and destroying homes, schools, and businesses. In fact, they even declared a state of emergency, which has only happened two other times in its history. Over 225,000 people are still without power, and New Zealand is now starting their recovery from this massive storm. Lastly, if you see flowers or trees blooming early, especially on the East Coast, make sure to appreciate this early spring! Temperatures in the east have been much warmer than normal lately, sparking early blossoms from various plants. Just know that this early bloom is likely to continue and expand over the next month.

Let's get to the news that everyone's been talking about: The Super Bowl! Last night, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35. It was a tense game, but the Chiefs ended up winning by a field goal in the last eight seconds after the Eagles evened out the score late into the fourth quarter. Just imagine Donna Kelce: Cheering for Travis and comforting Jason. On another note, the death toll for the Turkey-Syria earthquake is still rising, and it has reached about 33,000 people now. However, nations like the US and India are still rushing to help, but the UN expects the death toll to top out at a grim milestone: about 50,000. Lastly, the US shot down yet another unidentified object over Lake Huron, which was reportedly the same object that they spotted over Montana. This is the fourth unidentified object to have been shot down so far, and they are all believed to be Chinese 'spy balloons.'

US jets have shot down another two 'unidentified objects' over Alaska and northern Canada, with many suspicions that it could be another 'spy balloon' from China. The first was reported over Montana a week ago, and it has launched into a full-blown accusation of China spying on other countries using fake weather balloons that are actually balloons that spy on other countries. Of course, China denies the whole thing. Also, the death toll for the Turkey-Syria earthquake has passed 25,000 people, but the US, India, the UK, and other European countries are helping out as much as possible.

The Turkey-Syria earthquake has now been inducted into the ironically-named, infamous "Earthquake Hall of Fame," as the death toll has now reached over 23,000 people. That puts it on the list for the top ten most deadly quakes in the last 20 years, Freezing temperatures have not been helping, and over 78,000 others are injured across the two nations. Now, we have some big news for fast food lovers: Chick-Fil-A is releasing a new sandwich! However, it's not what you're expecting. The sandwich has absolutely NO chicken, since it is a unique cauliflower sandwich. The sandwich debuts next week, so you're sure to see some lines that are longer than the normal ones (which are already very long) at Chick-Fil-A!

Our coverage on the 7.8 magnitude Turkey/Syria earthquake is continuing, and the death toll just seems to be exponentially rising each day. The death toll has now reached 20,000, and many grieving families are starting to get angry with the slow-moving rescue. Rescue crews are working as fast as they can, but it might not be enough to save the hundreds, maybe even thousands of people still trapped under the rubble. On a better note, we have a big update on Damar Hamlin! The Buffalo Bills safety's doctors have announced that his chances of playing football again are very optimistic, after his mid-game cardiac arrest last month. So if you like Damar Hamlin, that's good news for you!

Many people are still trapped under the rubble in Turkey and Syria, after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the area due to the shifting of tectonic plates (Eurasian Plate, African Plate, Arabian Plate). More than 100 aftershocks have struck afterwards as well, and the subzero freezing temperatures lately have not been helping. The death toll has now risen to over 11,000 people, and hundreds, maybe even thousands more are still stuck. And now, since snow and low temps seem to be entering the area, survival chances are grim for the trapped people, who have gone days without food or water, and are now at risk of hypothermia. Now, on a happier note, NBA star LeBron James has made history! In the third quarter of the Lakers game last night, LeBron scored his 38,388th point in his career, breaking the record set by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 39 years ago. This accomplishment has also come along with four league MVP awards and four NBA championships. Congratulations to LeBron James!

Cleanup and rescue crews continue to help the slow recovery from the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that recently hit Turkey and Syria, and the death toll has now risen to over 7,700 people. Rescuers are racing to clear the rubble and find any remaining survivors, before the death toll rises any more. The main worry of the crews is in northwestern Syria, where over 4 million people were already needing humanitarian aid. Luckily, other countries in the area are rushing in to help, with a package carrying medicine, blankets, food, and other aid arriving today from Iraq and Iran. The US, Japan, Pakistan, India, and other big countries are also helping out, and over 300 Russian soldiers are helping to clear the rubble and search for survivors. Also, Google has announced a competitor-in-the-making for ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an AI chatbot launched by OpenAI. It is self-learning, so it learns from every entry asked, and can write a whole essay on topics from politics to culture to history. So, Google has announced a competitor to this service, supposedly named 'Bard'. They plan to start its testing this week and launch it in the next few weeks to the public.

Today, we come to give our condolences to the people of Turkey and Syria, after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the area today, killing over 1,500 people. It is the strongest earthquake in the area in over a century, but there is a huge tectonic plate boundary in the area, so these kind of earthquakes happen every century or so. On another note, the world-renowned 65th Grammy Awards took place just now, and there were some big awards given. Harry Styles won Album of the Year, the former One Direction member receiving the award for his popular new album, 'Harry's House', which features his hit single, 'As It Was.' Also, Beyoncé won her 32nd Grammy that day, breaking the record for most Grammys ever won. The last highlight involves Viola Davis, who won an EGOT last night. The coveted title is given to someone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Today, we only have two pieces of news: One, the out-of-control wildfires in Chile are still raging, with over 22 people dead. There are dozens of separate fires, and firefighters from all over the country are rushing in to help amid one of Chile's worst heatwaves in years. In some areas, temperatures have even reached above 104ºF (40ºC)! Secondly, the EU has officially banned Russian diesel, as Russia continues to war against Ukraine to take their land. However, this is creating an oil and gas shortage in Europe, as Russia is one of Europe's biggest suppliers. But the question that needs to be answered is: Is it all worth it when it comes to having people's lives on the line?

Okay, there's plenty of news today, so let's get started. The Chinese spy balloon that the US discovered a few days ago over US territory has been shot down over the Atlantic Ocean, the US government reported. There was no way it could be a weather balloon, like China claimed, due to the differences in distance, size, and altitude, and US-China tensions have highly increased. Second of all, a new wind chill record has been set, in Mount Washington, New Hampshire. The wind chills in Mount Washington reached -108 degrees Fahrenheit, amid a blast of arctic air that has been plaguing the northeast these past few days. The temperatures reached -46 degrees, and the winds reached over 127 mph, which brought the 'feels-like' temperatures down to -108. On another, sadder note, some serious wildfires have been spreading in Chile, because of a massive heatwave that has been burning the country, and quite a few people are dead. Let's hope that this heatwave ends and the country recovers quickly.
